The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and executing menu items according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. This position plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional dining experience by ensuring food is prepared accurately, efficiently, and consistently.
The Line Cook works collaboratively with the kitchen team to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while supporting operational excellence during all service periods.
Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, specifications, and quality standards.
Set up and stock assigned stations with all necessary supplies and ingredients.
Accurately read and execute orders from kitchen tickets or kitchen display systems.
Ensure all food is prepared, plated, and presented according to established standards.
Monitor food quality, freshness, portion control, and presentation throughout service.
Maintain proper cooking temperatures and food safety practices.
Assist with food preparation, ingredient processing, and batch cooking as needed.
Execute special requests and dietary modifications accurately.
Participate in handling re-cooks, large-party orders, and high-volume service periods.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of assigned workstations.
Restock products and supplies throughout the shift to ensure uninterrupted service.
Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to management.
Perform opening, closing, and side work duties, including station setup and breakdown.
Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment at all times.
Properly handle, store, and dispose of food products in accordance with health regulations.
Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and work surfaces regularly.
Follow all company policies related to food handling and kitchen operations.
Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, managers, and front-of-house team members.
Support fellow team members during peak service periods.
Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency while maintaining quality and accuracy.
Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
Assist with training and mentoring new kitchen team members when appropriate.
Minimum one year of cooking or food preparation experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
Experience in a high-volume restaurant environment is a plus.
Food Handler Certification or Food Safety Certification may be required based on local regulations.
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety practices.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
